College Basketball - Taylor University vs. University of Akron-Wayne, Dec. 7, 2012 : Taylor University (Upland, Ind.) played the University of Akron-Wayne on Dec. 7, 2012, in the first night of the 29th annual Ivanhoe Classic -- which coincided with the annual Silent Night men's basketball game (see separate gallery in the People folder), a Taylor University tradition since 1995. Taylor defeated Akron-Wayne, 90-58, to advance to the title game the following night. In that game, the Trojans defeated Trinity International (which had defeated Indiana University-East the previous night) 75-50. These images are from Taylor's win over Akron-Wayne on Dec. 7.

Running - Hendricks County Park2Park Relay, June 25, 2011 : These images are from the inaugural running of the Hendricks County Park2Park Relay, a novel "team" competition in which six runners share 18 three- to five-mile-long legs of a 65-mile course from McCloud Nature Park at one end of Hendricks County (Ind.) to Sodalis Nature Park on the other end of the county. Thirty-nine teams of six runners registered for the race, and all but two of them finished the full course. The 2012 race has been scheduled for June 16.

College Basketball - Hanover vs. Rose-Hulman, Feb. 16, 2011 : Hanover (Ind.) College defeated Rose-Hulman Institute, of Terre Haute, Ind., 69-66 in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference basketball game on Feb. 16, 2011. These images were taken at that game, played at the Horner Health and Recreation Center on the campus of Hanover College.

College Basketball - Wabash vs. Franklin, Dec. 29, 2010 : The undefeated and eighth-ranked Wabash College Little Giants survived a scare from the Franklin College Grizzlies in a men's basketball game at Franklin, Ind., on Dec. 29, 2010. Only a month earlier, on Nov. 20, Wabash had rolled over the Grizzlies, 96-55, in the final game of the Little Giant Tip-Off Classic in Crawfordsville, Ind. But in the rematch at Spurlock Center in Franklin, where these images were taken, the Grizzlies gave the Little Giants all they could handle, coming back from an early 17-point deficit and even grabbing the lead briefly in the second half, before succumbing, 77-74. The Little Giants' Derek Bailey (41) iced the victory by sinking two critical free throws near the end of the game. Wabash improved its record to 12-0 and had a much-anticipated home game looming against top-ranked Wooster College on Jan. 8, 2011.

College Basketball - Butler vs. Hanover, Nov. 4, 2010 : Butler University's men's basketball team, runnerup to Duke in the 2009 NCAA College Basketball Tournament championship game, played its second and final 2010-11 preseason exhibition game on Nov. 4 against Hanover (Ind.) College at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs prevailed, 80-41, and would start their regular season schedule, also at home, on Nov. 13 against Marian University. These images were taken from that Butler-Hanover game.

Cycling - Indy Criterium 2010, Aug. 21, 2010 : The first Indy Crit race, held Aug. 21, 2010, on a looped 0.7-mile course with five turns in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis and backdropped by Monument Circle and the State Capitol, featured races in five categories encompassing skilled cyclists through small children. These images reflect the second half of the Masters 35/45/50 competition and the first portion of the men's 3/4 competition.

Roller Derby - Naptown Roller Girls, April 17, 2010 : The Tornado Sirens and Warning Belles are women's roller derby teams based in Indianapolis. On the evening of April 17, 2010, both teams competed in a double-header bout against teams from Ohio. The Belles defeated the Gang Green, and the Sirens bested the Ohio Roller Girls All-Stars. The bouts were played in the Pepsi Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

College Basketball - Butler vs. DePauw, Nov. 1, 2009 : This game was Butler's first of the 2009-10 season, a 77-45 win on Nov. 1, 2009, in Hinkle Fieldhouse at Butler. It was an exhibition game -- it didn't count in teams' official win-loss record -- but it would prove to be the launching pad of a cinderella season for Butler that ended with the Bulldogs taking a 25-game win streak into the NCAA national championship game -- played in their hometown of Indianapolis -- where they lost to Duke, 61-59. That loss was the last game for Butler sophomore Gordon Hayward, who made himself eligible for the NBA draft at the conclusion of the college season. Running - Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half-Marathon, Nov. 7, 2009 : The second annual Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half-Mararthon was run Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, starting on West Washington Street in front of the State Office complex and finishing just west of the state capitol on Robert D. Orr Plaza. These images are from that shoot.
